Current Lesson

To begin a lesson, press the first button in the upper-left part of the main screen. This will display the section and lesson title and the prompt to press any key. Do press a key. Using your keyboard, type the line that appears on the screen. The current character to be typed is in the square frame.

Upon the completion of a lesson, the program will show the Results dialog that shows detailed statistics on the completed lesson. These results will be added to the Typing Statistics when you hit Next Lesson. If you are not satisfied with the result, you can hit Previous Lesson and repeat the same lesson. In this case, the results will not be saved.

If you close RapidTyping during a lesson, the lesson will be saved. When you run it again, you will be able to pick up from the place where you paused the last time. You can also hit (F5) on the keyboard to pause a lesson. Hitting (F7) on the keyboard will start a lesson over.

The typing frame shows:

• The character you are to enter now.
• Which hand you are to type the character with. That's indicated by the frame thickness; the thickened left and right sides indicate respectively the left or the right hand, and the thickened bottom part indicates that the current character is SPACE, and it can be typed with any hand.
• Which finger you are to hit the current character key with. The color of the frame matches the color of the finger area on the virtual keyboard.

While working on the lesson, you can use the following shortcuts:

• Start/Pause Current Lesson (F5)
• Go to the beginning of Current Lesson (F7)
